"Conversation with the Country"-a gathering of local community leaders, opinion makers, and patriotic citizens. The symposium, called "A Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower," will be a half day of briefings and interactive, informal discussions on the role of maritime forces in the modern world. Express your ideas and opinions to help inform the leaders of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard about the maritime issues that American citizens want to see addressed.

There are no conference fees or other charges. Upon receipt of your affirmative RSVP, the hosts will forward to you an admission ticket and several documents pertaining to the event.

Tickets will be allocated on a first-come/first-served basis, so please respond at your earliest opportunity. You may respond by registering on the website https://www.nwc.navy.mil/events/conversation; by e-mailing [email protected], or by calling the symposium coordinators at the Naval War College at 1-866-722-1668.

Conference themes emphasized that 90 percent of United States commerce goes by the sea and that 80 percent of Earth's population lives near a coast. Last year, the Navy took its brainstorming sessions to Phoenix, New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Seattle and San Francisco. Miami was the jumping off spot for a new round of conferences with appearances in Houston; Portland, Denver, Long Beach, Raleigh, N.C. next year.
