Martha Reeves, Motown legend and lead singer of Martha and the Vandellas, will talk briefly about her career and answer audience questions before the 7 pm screening of “Dreamgirls” on Christmas Day at the Michigan Theater. (The film will begin at approximately 7:20) The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and hitmaker of “Heatwave,” “Dancin’ in the Street” and “Nowhere to Run,” Martha Reeves is currently a member of Detroit City Council.

The historic Michigan Theater provides an ideal setting for viewing “Dreamgirls," as it has both glamour and state of the art Dolby ® Digital Surround Sound. During the 1960s, the fabled Motown Review had its home stage in a downtown Detroit movie palace much like the Michigan Theater. Seeing “Dreamgirls” at the Michigan Theater is the closest we can come to reliving that experience in an age of cinemalls and arena shows.

The star-laden film version of the Broadway musical opens Christmas Day at Ann Arbor’s elegant movie palace. Settle into a plush seat and let Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Jaime Foxx and Eddie Murphy entertain you. Filmgoers who attend during opening week may win a “Dreamgirls” soundtrack CD or other fabulous prizes at every show.

Dreamgirls continues at the Michigan through January 11. Seating is guaranteed at every show, and advance tickets may be purchased at ticketweb.com. All tickets are general admission.
