DETAILS: When George Clinton said “The funk doesn’t just move it can also “Re-Move” he was alluding to the healing and unifying power that music can have on a community or an individual. On March 11, Susnet Promotions puts that idea into action with a benefit concert so funky that the moves themselves will be moved. Sarah “Agent Red” Johnson, who fell during an aerial performance at Sea of Dreams is battling six-figure hospital bills and a long recovery. To help ease her struggle, Sunset has assembled a crack team of funky dancefloor shakers from the across the nation, including DJ Jon H of America’s leading funky breaks production team FORT KNOX 5. Christ “Whalefish” Whaley, founder and director of seminal nufunk label Super HiFi will make his SF debut as well, joined on the main stage by 8Ball of the Space Cowboys, and Melyss of Opulent Temple. If that wasn’t funky enough, the infamous Brass Tax crew will hold court in the back room, shaking down whatever escapes the main room anarchy. It all adds up to a terrific night of music and dance to support a terrific person in an hour of need. Funk Heals.
