In this one evening lecture and workshop, you will learn the tips and tricks about creating your own graphic novel. Topics include: beginning a graphic novel, narrative options, style, depicting content through page layout, narrative pacing, comics vocabulary and materials, discussion on major artists such as Marjane Satrapi, Daniel Clowes, Art Spiegelman, Chris Ware, and much more!

Ariel Schrag is the author of the autobiographical graphic novels Awkward, Definition, Potential, and Likewise which chronicle her four years at Berkeley High School. Her illustrations and comics have appeared in many publications including The San Francisco Chronicle, Jane, Paper, and The Village Voice. Shrag was a staff writer and story editor of the hit Showtime series The L Word.
