Experience the history of early San Diego on America's birthday with an historic 1800s 4th of July celebration in Old Town San Diego State Historic Park! The celebration will have games galore for the entire family. Sack races, needle in a haystack, pie-eating contest, egg toss and much, much more! Whether you want to relax in the plaza with a picnic or try your hand at one of the historic games, Old Town San Diego State Historic Park's Independence Day celebration is fun for everyone! The activities begin at 11:00 am and continue through 4:00 pm. Entertainment on stage will be provided during the day. There will be a special 12:00 noon flag raising and parade. Re-enactors from San Pasqual Battlefield Volunteer Association will liven up the day with demonstrations of cannon firing. Enjoy lemonade and popcorn available for the old fashioned price of only twenty five cents. Come early to participate in the parade and stay late to relax in the plaza while enjoying patriotic music and activities.
