Homo Economicus is a work of experimental theater that brings over twenty artists together to explore the intersection between economy and culture. Over the course of four Sundays (July 8, 15, 22, 29), the play takes a multi-faceted look at “the economic theory and character of Homo Economicus- the self-interested, rational, and profit-seeking model of humanity created by John Stuart Mill in the late 1800s.” H.E. is especially interested in searching for an answer to the conundrum of how to live a creative life, be a creative person, and yet still put food on the table. Despite the weightiness of the subject matter, H.E. never loses its incisive sense of humor.

Homo Economicus is the recent recipient of an Artist Bailout grant to partially fund production.
