DAY ONE: LEARNERTAINMENT DESIGN METHODS

PURPOSE:
In a workshop setting, you will learn proven instructional design methods for transforming learning programs from boring, talking-point lectures into show-stopping, eye-popping, hip-hopping events.

DESCRIPTION:
This workshop is a learning professionals guide to the effective design of Learnertainment-based instructional programs. It is based on Lenn Millbowers visionary work Show Biz Training and has been successfully presented to high acclaim at ASTD, ASCD and repeated for audiences nationwide.

Lenn Millbower believes, and brain-based studies demonstrate, that emotion rules behavior. Reaching learners intellectually may result in comprehension but reaching those learners emotionally changes behavior.

From music to comedy to live theater, the entertainment industry excels at eliciting emotion. In a workshop setting, you will learn how to apply Learnertainment techniques in learning situations. Your participants will laugh with you as they retain your message. Your organization will applaud your results.

DESCRIPTION:
Based on his Show Biz Training book and renowned ASTD International Conference presentations, Lenn will share his lauded Learnertainment model for putting pizzazz into your teaching, training, and speaking. Along the way, you will discover ways to accelerate learning and accelerate laughter: 12 attention-grabbing techniques, the 8 emotive show biz principles that drive learning, the OFFBEAT filter as the guide to selecting show biz techniques for specific learning environments, ways that comedy creates memorable messages, and how props and illusions illuminate content. You will leave this session with both an action plan for adding show biz to learning environments and a smile on your face.
