Part of the SF Sketchfest:

Michael Showalter and David Wain are founding members of the highly influential cult classic sketch group The State, which ran from 1993-95 on MTV. In 1993, they, along with fellow State-member Michael Ian Black, formed Stella, a live nightclub comedy show in New York City which spawned a series of short films and a Comedy Central series.

Along the way, Wain made his feature directorial debut with the wildly popular cult comedy Wet Hot American Summer, which starred Showalter along with several other members of The State. In 2005, Showalter made his feature directorial debut with IFC Film?s hilarious The Baxter.

For this special event, Showalter and Wain will present an extremely funny lecture on their backgrounds in comedy, complete with early video footage. After that they will take part in a rollicking question and answer period with the audience.
