Pinocchio has a new voice…
A voice with rhythm, rhyme, rebellion and relentless recklessness
Pinocchio is the tale of a wood carver’s puppet whose spirited quest to become a “real boy” sees him have to prove himself brave, honest and generous. In doing so the tale embodies song, dance and plenty of mischief making.
Performed in the open air, Dani Carbery's contemporary adaptation looks to avoid the sugary sentimentality of Walt Disney’s fairytale and carries to the stage a fresh, lively adaptation of Carlo Collodi's 19th century book, which draws it’s inspiration from the scout movement.
Director, Peter Mimmack saw parallels between Pinocchio's story and that of the scout organization where good citizenship in young people is nurtured through non-formal education & an emphasis on practical activities in the outdoors and so Pinocchio's character has been re-carved for today's audience under Peter’s direction. His cast of five male actors (or should that be his scout group!) invite you to join in the fun: woodcraft - camp life - endurance – chivalry – life saving

We recommend you come with family, friends and a mouth watering picnic ... woggles optional!
