Ramadan is a major religious observance for all members of the Islamic faith. During this month-long celebration, Muslims practice a variety of activities aimed at increasing generosity and togetherness. Come down to the museum to learn more about Ramadan and how your Muslim friends celebrate it!

Our Ramadan celebration forms part of Seasons of Sharing, Houston’s only multicultural holiday exhibit for children spotlighting seven cultural celebrations, on display Nov. 14 through Jan. 10.

 Greeting Card: Create a Ramadan greeting card for your friends, saying “May You Be Well Throughout the Year.”
 Ramadan Lantern: Make your own version of the traditional fanoos, a lantern to celebrate Ramadan.
 Create a Hat: Decorate and wear a hat in celebration of Ramadan.
 Spotlight Performance: Raindrop Turkish House. Enjoy an array of cultural performances in celebration of Ramadan and the Id.
Saturday Nov 14: 2 p.m.
 Hidden Sugar Test: Ramadan is a period of fasting, which means most Muslims eat only before the sun rises and after it sets, hosting large family meals full of their favorite dishes during these times. Come to the Power Science Lab to guess how much sugar is contained in different popular foods.
