The Reverend Billy C. Wirtz returns to the The Palms with his new show, Sermons and Songs, based on his new book, Sermons & Songs: Selected Writings from The First House of Polyester Worship. Expect to hear many of Reverend Billy’s best loved songs, along with a few new ones, some classic blues, a few country weepers and lots of high-octane boogie woogie. The readings will include some of his favorite chapters from the book including “Divinge Intermissions,” the story of how William M. Wirths became Reverend Billy C. Wirtz, “Boom Shakka Lakka Lakka,” life and death in a Georgia trailer park and “Toe Tale Recall, “ the events surrounding Reverend Billy’s acquisition of Elvis Presley’s last piece of footwear.
