SOMETHING DIFFERENT ON DC’S ART SCENE - STORY PERFORMANCE AT SPEAKEASY DC

“A pep rally for the word ‘mother f***r’” is how storyteller Robyn Holley describes her experience at a recent Motley Crüe concert. To hear that story, plus Reuben Jackson’s story about his youthful infatuation with the voice of Marvin Gaye, or Meredith Maslich’s sordid tale of stalking a man who had scorned her love, you’ll have to come to SpeakeasyDC’s 06-07 Season Opener on September, 12, 2006. The theme this month is "Intoxication: Stories about Being Swept Away."

In a town with a plethora of poetry nights, comedy open mics, and bookstore readings, SpeakeasyDC is a refreshing change of pace. Uniquely dedicated to the art of a well-told story, SpeakeasyDC has been captivating standing-room-only audiences with its monthly open mic storytelling series since 1998. All shows take place on the second Tuesday of every month at HR-57 (1610 14^th St, NW). Doors open at 7 pm for Happy Hour. Show starts at 8 pm. Cover is $5, plus $3 corking fee if you BYOB. Send an email to [email protected] to sign up for open mic.
