TarFest 2009 begins with the TarFest Art Exhibition on September 25 at 6 p.m. at the Korean Cultural Center, 5505 Wilshire Blvd, with an art show juried by Rita Gonzalez, Curator, American Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The opening reception of works by 12 local artists selected from over 500 submissions is free to the public and runs through October 10, 2009.

What is TarFest?

TarFest is the premiere arts and culture event in Los Angeles being held on the Miracle Mile District, produced by the Miracle Mile Players, September 25th – 27th, 2009. This three day multi-venue event brings together some of the nation’s finest emerging artists, performers and filmmakers, to display their talents for over 5,000 Angelenos of all ages. TarFest is a celebration of creative expression and mutual understanding within the community. The festival begins Friday, September 25, 2009 with an art exhibition opening at 6:00 p.m. at the Korean Cultural Center. Saturday, September 26, 2009 marks the TarFest Film Festival from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Korean Cultural Center, with the TarFest Music Festival following the same day at 7:00 p.m. at the El Rey Theatre. The final day of the event features the annual Miracle Mile Grand Prix consisting of a 5K and 1 mile run.
