Learn what computer programming is and why it is useful to learn - and gain an introductory knowledge of Python (a general purpose, high-level programming language) in this hands-on workshop (the 1st of three), suitable for beginners who have mouse and basic computer skills.

Following a brief introduction, the class will use Amazon Web Services to set up the development environment and will learn how to access this environment from almost any computer, including public computers at the Library. We will then discuss what python programming is and how to use the python interpreter. Finally we will actually dive into python programming and, by the end of the workshop, each student will have written their first "hello, world" python program.

Additional workshops on related web app subjects will be offered at the same time and location on Friday, December 14 and Friday, December 21. You are welcome to attend all three workshops - but it is not a requirement for participation.
