A special program related to the traveling New York Public Library exhibition, "Letters to Sala: A Young Woman's Life in Nazi Labor Camps,” (same venue from February 2-March 27, 2008--see separate listing under "Performing/Visual Arts [Theater, dance, opera, exhibitions]) featuring curator Jill Vexler and Ann Kirschner, Sala’s daughter and author of Sala’s Gift: My Mother’s Holocaust Story (New York: Free Press, 2006).

"The letters that comprise this exhibition are the true embodiment of how the written word can give life," said curator Jill Vexler. "What emerges from the exhibition is an inspiring portrait of human resilience in the face of unthinkable atrocity." The lecture will delve into the background of the exhibition and the story behind it and its courageous protagonist.
