Bring your family and your imagination to experience a WWII classroom and become an evacuee for the day.

The Dean Heritage Centre will be holding a World War II workshop where visitors can meet Mrs Dutson, the centre’s Evacuee Coordinator, and learn what life was like for children escaping the cities during the war for a safer life in the countryside.

Experience life in a WWII classroom, the protocols of an air raid drill and then head outdoors to the cramped conditions of our Anderson Shelter. See an authentic home guard uniform, try your hand at plane identification and get interactive with our WWII handling collection.

The Evacuee experience will run from 11am until 2pm. Evacuees must be assembled by 1:30 at the latest to avoid missing their billeting allocation and being sent back to the bombs and smog of the cities!
